Virtual landlines allow you to receive and send calls from anywhere at any time without having to pay ridiculous charges as well as giving you the option to choose your virtual UK number. This can be important if you are a company owner as the first impression of your business for most clients is your phone number, this can be crucial to your public image depending on your company focus;
-If you are targeting a local area then having a local phone number containing the area code will encourage trust and make you look more professional.
"More than half of UK consumers (55%) prefer to buy local brands"- Talking Retail
Using a local phone number through virtual landline for a target area will give your business a helping hand in building a relevant customer base, another benefit of a virtual landline number, helping your business grow.
-If you are in an industry that is particularly high end and you want your business to reflect that then a London phone number could potentially be beneficial and give your brand more influence.
-If you are a company running from a small or home office then advertising a landline number that isn't your home phone is more professional and will help keep the divide between work and home life.
"I used to carry two mobiles around, one for work and one for personal use, thanks to Virtual Landline I now only need one, and have saved money."- Gary Jones
1. How sending and receiving calls works
It works by diverting your incoming calls to your registered mobile or landline essentially providing you with a pocket landline
To make a call you must first have one of the following devices: The virtual landline free app, VoIP handset, Buzz Box. You can call from any of these and it will appear to the customer as your chosen landline number.
To find out more head to our 'how does it work' page.
2. You can port an existing number with us
Porting is converting your existing 01/ 02/ 03/ 0800 number into a virtual number. To do so you must first contact your existing provider to release the number so the hosting can be passed to us.
For more details on landline porting head to 'FAQ's' and the porting section.
This method is most beneficial if you use your virtual landline simply for friends or family you want to contact abroad as you can keep the same number they already know but call them in an easier and more cost effective way, including cheap international calls.
3. What Virtual Landline Pro features we offer
With our service we offer some handy features, including a 'call whisper', Sequential ringing, simultaneous ringing and 'Time of Day Routing'.
These feature are what make Virtual Landline the perfect tool for you to help your business grow.
4. What is an Auto attendant and how to use it?
An Auto Attendant is an automated voice message that plays once the caller dials, it usually gives options to the caller to help figure out where they need to be diverted. This development is particularly helpful in call management. They can make the use of yours and your employees time more efficient by forwarding customer calls to the department/people that can help them, like an ereceptionist.
5. How to avoid oversea phone call charges
Using a local UK landline number means you can avoid the harsh oversea charges some providers put in place. This is particularly beneficial if you are in the UK but have family living abroad or if you are a regular traveller. You can set up a virtual landline UK number to communicate with them for a fraction of the normal price and enjoy the long conversations catching up without worry of a shocking phone bill from ridiculous tariff charges.
As long as you have a strong WiFi connection you can receive calls for free and make calls for only 1 penny per minute, this applies internationally. For more information on international call charges, please see our 'international coverage' page. To find the right plan to suit you, head to 'compare plans'.
6. GSM Functionality
GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a widely popular digital mobile network that is used by mobile phone users in many parts of the world. GSM alongside other developments, is part of the evolution of wireless mobile telecommunications and this is why it is one of our many options for Virtual Landline.
When using a device that contains a functioning SIM card, the GSM calling can be used. This means if your mobile WiFi connection isn't strong enough you can use the GSM network to call instead.
